So YAY this semester im going to finish my last ochem class and physics which makes me done with the year series of g. chem. bio. o.chem and physics. planning to take mcat in jan. and apply in june.

but like most of us post-bacs i don't have upper division sciences that some schools require. USC wants bio-chem and molecular genetics, UCD wants calc. and an upper division biol. In their application page it says "applicants strongly encouraged to finish basic science requirements prior to applying"... does this mean that i need to finish the upper division requirements or can i do this during glide year?

IMO "Basic Science" = introductory courses. Upper-level science classes aren't basic science. As a general rule, any required coursework needs to be complete before matriculation, not before application. There is a place on the AMCAS application where you list Future (and current) Courses, so they'll know what you intend to take. That said, probably the only way to know the school-specific answer to your question, is to call the admissions office staff, and ask.
