Questions about SMP Programs.

Hello.
I've been doing a lot of research about SMP programs throughout the SDN forums and online and it's still a little unclear as to how SMP programs help students with low GPA's to get into medical school since they all suggest to get their AMCAS in before the start of the SMP program.

Can someone help me with this?

Some have reported being asked to submit an official transcript at the end of the first semester of their SMP.

^^ When I was at drexel another post bacc student only spent the first quarter with us, and was then accepted and withdrew from the post bacc.

What if you are trying to go to med school in that same school? Is it a bit easier than if you were to apply separately?

Does anyone have info about the BU MAMS? I'm specifically wondering if students usually apply before starting the program (I know Georgetown encourages this), or if BU students are better off to wait until the end of the program and take a year off? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mine has a linkage program with a medical school. They assure you get in if you have a 25 MCAT and can maintain 3.5 GPA in the post-bacc. You apply early decision to the med school three weeks before you start the post-bacc. Then they monitor you throughout the year and as soon as your MCAT comes in they accept you assuming it is over the requirement (which it should be since my post-bacc gives an 8 week free MCAT course).
