hi everyone,

I have a questions. I started reading ap bio cliff and haven't finish it yet because I'm so tired of reading. Do you think that if I do all the questions in the destroyer and tried to understand the questions, do you think that I will do really good in the actual DAT?

thanks!

I have first read my college bio book cambells abd then really just read for this section. After I read, i then went on to cliffs ap bio and everything was just connecting for me. after that go on to destroyer.

Depends what your previous experience with biology is. I read kaplan and understood destroyer that earned me an 18. I have had genetics and biology 3 years ago.

Lol you sounded funny when you said "tired of reading". I think that's common. However, I think you may need a push 😉. Don't forget that Bio is 40 items in the DAT. If you don't have a good foundation of biology/ if most of your bio stuff is not fresh...prolly better read ap cliffs. But if the meaning of your "tired of reading" is equivalent I know this stuff already/ it's boring me. Then DAT destroyer is good. I just think that AP cliffs and Destroyer is a good complement since if anything is not clear from Destroyer, Ap Cliffs could give you a better picture. In any way you put things, the main goal is to get as much Bio information. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your advice everyone! I basically understand almost all the sections in the ap cliff bio except for plants, ecology, cellular respiration and photosynthesis. I have a hard time reading those section because it is so boring. But I will try to push myself to finish reading. The reason why I decide to stop reading earlier is because I read a lot of post from others saying that they look at the destroyer like a million time before they even took the test and score really high. So I thought that if I look at the destroyer a lot I will do well in the DAT. 😀

To understand the entire bio destroyer though, you need to fully understand general bio. In my opinion, if you fully read/understand Cliff's AP bio + Kaplan Blue book + Destroyer..you'll ace the bio section.

Also keep in mind that everything in kaplan + cliff's is very condensed, so everything is critical.

For biology I just used Cliff's AP and Destroyer as well. I think the most important thing with Cliff's is that you take both of the tests and understand all of the wrong and correct answers. I don't know what works best for you but for me seeing as many problems as I could was beneficial. I also ordered the Cliff's AP Bio 5 full practice tests. Doing all of those problems, DAT destroyer, and all of the Kaplan problems earned me a 22 on the real thing. If you take DAT Acheiver and can get between a 17-20 you should be fine. I was scoring roughly that on my TopScore and Acheiver and did substantially better on the real thing. What makes the real test more difficult is that some questions are inference-based type questions and not so much retrieval. With a strong background from Cliff's and the abilility to narrow down answer choices you should be fine.
