Questions about testing in VAs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It varies by VA. At one major VA I was at, there were no technicians. Another VA had two technicians who were utilized by interns and psychologists.

We had a psychometrician at the VA I was at, though the vast majority of assessment was handled by interns, post-docs, and neuropsychologists.

How did they decide when to use the psychometrician, out of curiosity? Was it just on a time-available basis?

I assume it has alot to do with budget and need .

There was a basic battery that was used, and the more straight-forward cases were given to them. The patient would still be seen by the neuropsychologist before/after, but it helped with getting through the WAIS, WMS, etc.

They tested two days per week each; both were trained on a large battery of tests that could be flexed if needed.
