I see that everyone says that an applicant should apply one year prior to when they hope to start med school. I want to start August of 09, therefore that means I need to apply June 1st. Between June 08 and August 09 I will be finishing up my bachelors degree - which includes my calcs and/or statistics - I see that alot of schools have mathematics as a prequisite. How does the admission committee view this? Would I be rejected right of the bat or do they know that I will be finishing those classes up?

Also, what exactly is behavioral science course. I took one course called Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior? What else do you think they would consider a behavior course?

Thanks for your responses in advance.

🙂

Okay - I read the FAQ - It stated that only 2 schools had mathematics as prereqs (calcs/Stats).

UNECOM is the school that I have my heart set on - it says that math & statistics are suggested. I love UNECOM - EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

I dream about my interview there. I dream that I have a bad interview and at the end I grovel at the adcoms feet, and beg. I wonder why my dreams are so negative, I worry so much that I'll be sent a rejection letter from them. That would be bad...very bad ...bc I love unecom.

Anyway - back to my topic....I've taken pre-calc & stats at my local CC but then I transfered to the University. They are making me take the stats over because they consider the stats "basic" - but it wasn't considered basic at the CC. How worried should I be - I'd take calc I over the summer but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to take calc II or Stats until Fall 08.....

Should I call them? - hmmm....calling them probably would be best....

I still don't know about the behavioral science..........

You're fine as long as you have your pre-reqs done before you START med school. They know that people will be applying before they actually graduate.

As for the behavioral science course, could always take a psych course. Not sure what else AACOMAS considers a behavioral science course, you could always call them or go to their site and search.

Have you taken the MCAT yet?

Behavioral science is probably going to mean something that is classified as such by AACOMAS. I believe that this is a designation they have. I don't see why your class wouldn't count.

2. You are probably fine on the math requirement. Call ore e-mail to be on the safe side.

3. There is an area on aacomas for classes you plan to take. The schools will see this.

4. GA-PCOM crushes all other schools like the insignificant ants that they are.

Cool....

I was thinking exactly what you've all said but I was afraid that watch I waste all this money applying - and they just reject me( because I haven't taken the classes yet). I will call the schools just to make sure but in the meantime - you've reassured me. Thanks.

I've been on the aacomas website - trying to figure this all out - I sent them an email but they haven't replied yet.

That's good about the psychology - I have 2-3 classes in that.

Thank You.
