Questions for Interviewer

So I am struggling with what I should ask the people interviewing me. I don't want to ask dumb questions, or god forbid not have anything to ask. So I was wondering what people in general have asked their interviewers. Second time applying to vet school, and I really want to ace my upcoming interview. Thanks!!

is always a good one

at all three of my interviews I asked if they could expand on the curriculum (do students get to choose a track... what academic options are there for equine specialties, etc). Most of my interviews had a student so they were able to answer this well.

So I have been struggling with what questions I should ask my interviewers. I don't want to ask dumb questions that are too generic or just don't sound thought out. So I was wondering what you guys have been asking your interviewers in general. Second year applying to vet school, want to rock this coming interview. Thanks!!

I totally went with the "Well, I've volunteered in the teaching hospital for two years and asked every fourth year student every question I could think of about this school. I have all the information I need to know I want to be here."

Yup yup. (It was actually truth, but it still felt a LITTLE like a cop-out.)

I will tell you that after being on the interview panel last weekend, if someone didn't have any questions for us, we were taken aback. Opinion-based questions I think are the way to go - asking what they think the best part of the school is, what their recommendation for success once in is, things like that

In my interviews, I asked about clubs, externship opportunities, and jobs on campus--things about actually going to the school that wouldn't necessarily be part of the admissions presentation. And if you have multiple interviews, you might find that you really liked or disliked something about one school and want to ask the other if they have anything like that.

I usually asked a question related to curriculum and also asked them what their favorite thing about the school is.

I am actually the opposite of everyone who has posted. I didn't have any questions when I got to the interview building way early. Then I went on the tour and had a bunch of questions and talked the ambassador's ear off with questions. When my interviewers asked if I had any questions, I told them that I had actually run out of questions when talking to the ambassador. They laughed and said that they were glad the ambassador was so helpful. Then I told them that her answers had gotten me really excited about the school and listed the things I liked. Then they elaborated on the things I liked.

On the one hand, I feel like it shows you are disinterested if you don't have questions. But I also think that trying to come up with questions to ask for the sake of having a question can also look kind of negative. I feel like honesty is the best bet. Or just save your questions for the interviewers and not the ambassador. lol.

Opinion questions are generally the way to go. That way if you end up having multiple people to ask questions of, you may end up with multiple viewpoints! The vet I worked with who did a mock interview with me last year said always always always ask questions in an interview, whether for vet school or a job. The people interviewing you want to know you're interested. You shouldn't be making this sort of big life decision without as much information as you can. She said that in all her years of hiring people, she would never offer jobs to people who didn't ask questions during their interview, because how the heck can you really be seriously interested if you don't want to know more? Whether you agree with that viewpoint or not, the people interviewing you very well might, so better safe than sorry!
