Questions for Interviewers

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you could be any kind of cell, what would you be and why?

(I read this either on SDN or some other pre med thing)

ETA... I thought maybe I should explain more. I think asking some unique question like this will help them remember you. Like if they explain everything (all questions you've pre-prepared), asking sort of a quirky memorable question will help make a memory tab for you.

What are some good questions to ask the panel during an interview? I have been doing research about each school, but I am not sure what to ask!
For a specific school, I would ask a question about a part of their program that attracted you to that school. For instance, I am interested in ER medicine, and MSU has an excellent ER staff and many of their students go onto pursue residencies in ER med. A question I would ask is- are there any opportunities for me to further my knowledge/interest in ER med besides the one clinical rotation? Are pre-clinical students allowed to observe ER clinics? Not great, but a start. 🙂

I just asked my interviewers what they liked most and least about the school and why they choose to work at the school. Nothing great, but it's something.

I usually ask what they are most proud of about their school or what keeps their school competitive with the rest of the vet schools. Pretty boring and generic....but it worked 🙂 I do like the idea of a quirky memorable question, like lostbunny said, I just never thought to do that!

The above are all great suggestions.

I inadvertently asked my Penn interviewers if they were "crazy PETA people". We all laughed pretty hard as I stumbled through the rest of my statement, which consisted of me saying I didn't mean all PETA supporters were crazy but that yeah, they were probably crazy. 🙂

Other than that, I asked about their interests (clinical and research). 30 minutes really isn't long enough!
