Hi all, i'm just reviewing whole DAT sections and solved the problems from the Barron's DAT. And i don't understand their correct answers.

55. Catalysts have which of the follwing effects on a chemical reation?
A. They lower the activation energy.
B. They increase the free energy.

I choose A, but the correct answer is B according to the book.

65. If all of the chloride in a 5.0 gram sample of an unknown metal chloride is precipitated as AgCl with 70.9 ml of 0.201 M AgNO3, what is the percentage of chloride in the sample?
A. 50.55%
B. 20.22%
C. 1.43%
D. 10.10%
E. none of the above

I choose D, but the correct answer is E according to the book.
Does anybody can solve this problem why this is E?

66. In which of the following are the atoms arranged by increasing atomic size?
A. Be < Na < Mg
B. Be < Mg < Na

I choose B, but the correct answer is A according to the book.

I would not say I'm smart but,, those questions are not really understandable. I'm almost thinking that Barron's DAT is suck.
Please help me guys..

I got the same answers as you did. It's likely that it was a Friday afternoon when that Barron's book was edited.

throw away the Barrons DAT book. its useless. in fact there are so many typos and wrong answers that it could actually hurt your score.

there just so much other great materials out there, dont waste time with something that has incorrect info.

if you buy all the good stuff you'll have more than enough material to keep you busy for 2-3 months, and you'll be more than well prepared for the test.

I'm just concerning to re-read my Kaplan course book (thick review book), and I found out there is no full-length exam.
But Kaplan Dat, 2007-2008 by Kaplan (2006) has 2 full length exams, is this book same as Kaplan course book (review book), or is it worth to buy new Kaplan Dat, 2007-2008 by Kaplan (2006) for full length exams?
Thank you.

I think the answer to Q 65 is E,I'mnot sure but I've %30.45 for chloride which in this case we don't have such a answer choice.Again,I'm not sure please correct me if I'm wrong. But for rest of the Q I think your answer were all right.
