Questions Regarding Application

Hi, I am new to this bulletin and wanted to get some questions answered. I will be finsihingmy BS-Microbioology next semester, but will be applying to pharmacy school for fall 2007. I did not intend on taking the PCAT, but have found that i will limit myself to about 7 schools. What are some suggestions redarding this??? Also, if i do decide to take it, and dont do too well, how will my score effect acceptance at schools that dont requrie it?? (it doesnt seem like it would).

From those that have already been accepted, what do you think my chances are with the following stats
Overall GPA- 3.6
Sceince GPA 3.8
Pharmacy exp- Some, but not much
Work experience-Strong.

I will be applying to all schools in cali, Wash, oregon. By strong work experience, i mean that i have worked in a professional setting working with patients as well as government jobs.

your stats look very doable for california schools.

for the pcat, the only california school that i know of that looks at pcat scores is usc - they say the look at the pcat "favorably," but i'd imagine that's if you do well. i'm not sure what they would do if you did poorly...

You should try Colorado, no PCAT required. 🙂

Good Stats- just make sure you cover your tracks and write a stellar personal statement. FYI: UWashington requires the PCAT- i'm not sure about WSU or the Oregon schools. I know you mentioned not taking the PCAT.

With those grades I would go ahead and take the PCAT. You will do better than you think, a lot of people take it several times and seriously aren't ready for it which inflates the grade you'll get. My guess is you'd get at least 75th percentile with no prep at all and could approach 90th with a couple week's pcat review from an amazon.com guide.
