Are we supposed to include our high school achievements on the CV that we give to the professors who are writing our recommendation letters? Or should I leave that out and only write college accomplishments?

Thanks!

While I left out my high school accomplishments from my CV I see no reason why you couldn't include those items in yours.

if you won the nobel prize while you were in high school, then include it, but if your high school accomplishments consist of the usual blaise "honors society, tutoring, ASB president, varsity letter, band/symphony crap...blah blah blah blah blah", it will not matter one bit whether you include it or not.

Should I eat a cake with a fork or a spork?!?

Will it be viewed as extraneous garbage used to beef up the resume, or will it really matter? I am leaning towards just leaving it out.. I'm assuming my teachers don't care what I did when I was 16 years old! 😉

what are we? The Borg? Yes we are of a single consciousness with your professors and will be able to tell you exactly how they will view it.

now tell me, should I eat this slice of cake with a fork or spork ??

i agree, if it was super bad ass include it, otherwise turf it.

Just looking for a few opinions, that's all 🙂

as am I, I just want to know what people's opinions are on the eternal question of the fork or the spork.

well then, my opinion is that if you have great stuff from yoru high school years, great as in you only know very few people that have done something similar, then include it. Otherwise nah.

coincidentally, I was completely stumped when professors asked for my academic CV... I mean I'm a college student... what the heck kind of CV would I have?

Education:

Expelled from high school
College... GPA.. uhh.. nevermind

Honors:

In a drunken haze I once stood on a sofa in the study lounge wearing a cape and a hat and nothing else and pronounced myself Grand Potentate.... that was an honor...

Organizations/Societies:

Academic Probation, 2001-present

Awards: I once scored 20,132 on Snood.

Publications:

Art piece, "Finals Blow My Nuts", acrylic on brick, displayed on the west wall, Rieber Residence Hall, UCLA. 12/07/01 - 12/07/01

Writing a CV in my opinion is a waste of time. If you don't have your personal statement done, just briefly write one page on why you want to be a dentist (this shouldn't even serve as your rough ps b/c you'll base it around the professor)...talk about how the class paid off for you, and try to put a few details about yourself in there. Flows much better, and is easier to write than a freakin CV. I hate CV's and resumes...I refuse to write them.

I totally agree. A waste of time. I'd rather pluck my arm pit hairs
