hi guys... i'm about to apply to a ton of schools in these next couple of months and was wondering if anyone has ever taken a prereq course online. i know it's rare for a&p's, chem's and other labs to be offered online-- i mainly am wondering for classes such as a psych prereq. does anyone know of certain schools that do not accept online credits? some schools i'm applying to are umiami, st augustine, nova southeastern, mgh, shenandoah, atsu, etc. thanks everyone!

I don't know about those schools, since I only applied to midwest schools + Duke.

But, I can say that I took a psych course online, and it was no issue...mainly because I took it through a community college, and even though it was a telecourse, it never showed up as such on my transcript...as far as they know it was an actual course. If you take a class through a school like that, ask if they state that it's a telecourse on the transcript - they probably don't, so it's fine....if you take it someplace like Phoenix, or one of those other blatantly online-only colleges, then you may have some problems.

I wouldn't risk it either way though with the hard sciences, but something like calc/stats/psych should be fine. You can always email the PT school admissions though and ask directly.

x2.

Email the PT administration of the programs you are interested in and see what they have to say.

I took developmental psych as a telecourse and on my transcript it showed up as a regular class so no one ever even knew. Good luck applying

I got into Shenandoah and I took developmental psych online. They never mentioned it being a problem, but as others have stated, it didn't show up on my transcript as being an online course (none of mine did, and prob. took 3-4 as an undergrad). In agreement over chem/a&p/physics- take them on campus. Good luck applying!

thanks everyone for your input. i've only taken adolescent development online so far and now am thinking about retaking intro to psych (horrible professor screwed the whole class). i'm glad you all have the same thoughts i had about this question-- and i'll definitely contact my schools to doublecheck, too. thank you again!
