sorry if this might seem like a stupid question, but:

i noticed that some secondaries are already available to applicants even before the schools have received an applicants' application. is this true? if so, with the intent of getting in your application for review as soon as possible, do you go ahead and pre-write your secondaries before the june application date arrives?

Yes. You could prewrite them now if you wish. The essay prompts are posted in the PreMed Allo School Specific threads. They are 95%+ the same from year to year. Many of the essays are so similiar you can use them over and over.

Once you get the official invitation to complete the Secondary, your turn-around time can be a day or two. This is particularly helpful when you are getting multiple invites each day.

Yah. I didnt do that tho.

Unprepared. Lazy. gah

I agree that prewriting secondary essays would be a great help. Even if you just pre-write a rough draft, it'll be very helpful in the long run. Many schools use similar secondary questions so you can kind of cut and paste sentences and paragraphs from different essays. It also helps you to get to know yourself a little better and organize your thoughts and know which traits about yourself you really want to emphasize in your interview.

I didn't pre-write. You have plenty of time to do that later. I guess I was just lazy though.

Good to know. I'm going to be applying to a lot of schools so I figure it'd be good if I get complete my primary and secondary application as soon as possible.

From my experience, my secondaries got significantly better after the first 4 or 5. So you might want to write some of your bottom choice secondaries first, then start on your top choice schools. I wished I had.

Or you could pre-write them...

so true. that's even more reason to start pre-writing whenever you get a chance (though your first priority is probably the PS). I put it off and it made the first few weeks of the fall semester very hectic.
