Hello!
What's the best brand of stethoscope? Two of mine have broken so far. 🙁

Thanks!

Gotta agree with Welch Allyn. I love my Harvey DLX. I can hear moles that even my attendings miss.

Agree with the above, Harvey elite is a great scope and build quality is better than littman 3. I believe the quality of sounds are equal

You're not going to pick up that murmur anyway so just get the cheapest one

You can't tune your ears without learning how to use a scope. I think it's worth it. It's bad enough that our physical exam skills have deteriorated so much

I had (and still have) a Cardiology III and think it's a pretty great stethoscope. I have never lost mine, I take good care of it, and it's still serving me well.

The advice I frequently see is "just buy the cheapest one," but I think that's poor advice. You should think of these things as investments necessary to your trade. At the end of the day, $200 isn't all that much for a quality stethoscope. Don't lend it out to random people, don't just throw in your backpack and allow it to get crushed by textbooks and it'll last a long while and be well worth the cost.

I've been thinking of getting the Littmann 3100 just because I like gadgets and want to see how it works, but I'm finding the $400 price tag a bit difficult to square.
