I'm still lacking one important recommendation. When programs set application deadlines, does that apply to the application only (CAF, personal statement) or the application and the recomendations?

I am applying to one of the surgical subspecialties and have found that a "completed application" includes the number of LORs required on their website. What I have also found is that most of the early deadlines were pretty flexible. For example, I just completed an application that had a deadline of 10/15. Just send a nice email to the coordinator. At the very least you'll make a friend.
