Could this possibly count towards research experience? To help form an opinion, I'd like to point particularly towards this paragraph:

"You will work in small research teams (3-4 students per team) to complete 3 research projects throughout the semester. These projects are designed to provide you with the experience of planning a research study, collecting and analyzing data, and developing a written summary. The summary should be relatively brief (2-3 double-spaced, typed pages) and include a statement of the study rationale and hypotheses, methodology, statistical analysis plan, results, and discussion. Students will work in groups to collect and analyze data but must submit individual summaries."

To me personally this sounds like a class project. I had to do something similar to what you're describing (small groups, observation/surveys, analyze) and it was much more a class project than scientific research. If you were to do the IRP and then actually do that experiment and do it with the purpose of research and publishing it, then I think that would count. However, I am not well versed in social sciences research.

Is the research original? It sounds like the projects are previously designed didactic experiments that are designed to help you learn the scientific process in a controlled way.
