I am graduating pharmacy school May 17th and was wondering how quickly it was possible to get licensed. A lot of new pharmacists told me that they were licensed by late July/early August,. But it seems like if I register for the tests very quickly upon graduation (aka fill out all the paperwork as soon as I can), it is possible to be licensed by late June/early July. Is this true? I have a long break between end of rotations and graduation, so studying for the NAPLEX and taking the earliest possible test is no problem.

Any NAPLEX timeline stories out there?

Yes but it really depends on your state. You should get your result in less than a week and your license should be posted in about a week or two but again, it depends on your state.

I did everything as fast as I could and got licensed on 7/1 (graduated 5/14). It's not just paperwork on your end. My pharmacy school wouldn't do their part until after the graduation ceremony (even though grades were finalized two weeks earlier) and the other pharmacy school in the state graduated two days before us, so the board got all their paperwork first. Then when you go to schedule your tests with Pearson, you've got to find open time slots (4 hours for the naplex, right?) but EVERYONE just graduated, so they're flooded with other pharmacy students, CPAs, realtors and every other profession, too. I was the fastest licensure I know of for 2010.

You're dependent on your state board of pharmacy/pharmacy commission for processing your paperwork to register for the exams too. Some states take what feels like forever, and your paperwork will be submitted at the same time as everyone else graduating so that adds more delays.
