Q. What is the reason behind not transfusing platelets into patients with HUS OR TTP , when these conditions manifest with thrombocytopenia. Any explanation for how transfusion of PLT can worsen the condition?
Also as a rule you usually do not transfuse patients with platelets unless they have an active bleeding related to the low platelets count or the platelets are super low and patient is considered a high risk of bleeding .
