The following was sent to me via PM:

I have a bit of a dilemma. I finished the courses for a postbaccalaureate program, but didn't meet one of the academic criteria for the recommendation letter from the committee. From looking at my status page at the school, it appears that I'm listed as still in the program - i.e., I haven't officially "graduated" I believe.

My question is, I'm applying to med schools, and am unsure how to answer the question of why I don't have a committee letter. I would have gone to my undergraduate institution, but I found out about the postbacc program yanking their support (basically letting me go from the program) too late in the year to get one with my undergrad school. Can I just state that I requested a letter too late in the year or do I need to explain everything?

I do have two science rec letters, as well as rec letters from a math professor, former work supervisor, and lab supervisor.

You can try not saying anything in your application, and hoping they don't ask you about it in detail during your interviews, though I don't know if that would work. I think if the adcoms find out that your postbac program won't recommend you, you are pretty much hosed. Is there no way to get the postbac program to change its mind, or to get a committee letter from your undergrad? If not, you might end up needing to wait until next year. I'm curious as to why the OP's postbac program wouldn't provide the letter...if it was due to low grades, the grades may not be high enough to get the OP medical school interviews...
