Rad Onc average boards score

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think it was around 230 if I remember correctly. There was a publication last year that had that info.

prerty darn close...

in 2005, it was reported as 228 by the nrmp

http://www.nrmp.org/matchoutcomes.pdf

page 58

It's been a month since this was posted (I realize this forum moves slow), but I thought I'd mention that 228 is the average for applicants, not the average for matching.

The data for matching is on one of the first graphs and it looks to be about 233.

I realize this post is old now, but I thought I'd help add to the clarification.

The first chart in "outcomes" shows median scores, while the number listed in the individual sections says mean. As well, from the summary given on the page before the individual sections, it speaks as if the score is from matched applicants.

Therefore, I surmise that both scores are for matched.

Since we are resurrecting old threads, I though it would be useful to point out that the RadOnc median Step I score shows a very high variability. If you notice the SD bars for Plastics, Derm and Radiology you will notice that they are much tighter.

This is significant because there are many other things in RadOnc that can make you an attractive candidate outside of your Step I score.

yes people readily forget we see wide variation about the mean/median.
