Hey everyone,

Do any of you know how students can sign up to receive free/low cost subscriptions for print versions of our various radiation oncology journals (IJROBP, PRO, etc)? I know that in other fields, there is a student membership to the big national organizations that automatically allows you to get their journal. However, on the ASTRO website, I don't see a membership for students (I'm a 4th yr student) and you can't sign up for resident membership until PGY2 year. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I access journals like IJROBP through my institution. I don't have an individual subscription. Maybe there's access through your school's library website.

Thanks Mikedc813! Yes, I definitely do have access to just about all these journals via the website, and that is no problem at all. I am actually trying to find a way to get the PRINT version of these journals, if possible. This may indeed not be easy to do, but just wanted to know.

Besides, being a student, reading Red Journal regularly wouldn't do you much good. Reading a radonc textbook is a much wiser time investment.

I agree with everyone above that, as a student interested in radiation oncology, you should probably focus reading other sources, not the Red Journal.

But if you really, really, really wanted a print subscription, you might try contacting ASTRO to see if they offer any discounted membership to students. At first glance, I don't see that they have a membership category for students, but it wouldn't hurt to call.

Try contacting Todd Karstaedt, Membership Coordinator, 703-839-7328. He's a super helpful guy.
