So I don't know much about Rad Onc but I am starting my elective in Rad Onc tomorrow. I am a 3rd year who doesn't know much except for what Peds and Medicine has taught me.

What are some good things to read (websites/books) for extreme beginners..

What do they like to ask about on the wards? In other words... what should I do so that I don't look clueless?

I also did my first Rad Onc rotation during third year. I had recently completed a PhD in a cancer biology lab, so I knew the newest and greatest molecular targets for some cancers, but other than that I didn't know much. First...know how to do a focused physical exam; that is pretty key.

As for books, "Handbook of Evidence-based Radiation Oncology" by Eric Hansen and Mack Roach was a must have. Read that and know the pearls and you should be fine. Also, I did a medical oncology sub-internship (toughest month of my life) and I found that "Harrison's Manual of Oncology" was excellent. For my away Rad Onc rotation I used both books, but if you have to make a choice between the two books go with the Hansen and Roach book.
