Greetings community!

Since i was in my early days of Middle school ive viewed and observed many radiologists and it truly made an impact on my medical interest. I've always considered going into Radiology but it is not set and stone. Over the years I've heard many doctors and people mention Radiology is great! fantastic, and A great job! but i have also heard those saying the career its self is not going to be so great because of insurance costs, government, hospitals etc. I will aslo be volunteering at the Moffit center over the summer in the MRI rooms and interacting with cancer patients 🙂 so it will give me a better diagnostic and radiological view on things.

So my question is, Is Radiology a good career to enter for the future and now?

Thanks for the help guys! 👍

If you are a high school student, it's way way way to early to pick a specialty. Decide if you want to be a doctor or not first. If yes, do the things necessary to get into med school. Once in your clinical years of med school you will do a variety of rotations and electives to help decide what you'd like to do. Most medical specialties go through changes over the decade it's going to take before you get to a specialty rotation.

This is adorable
👍

These threads always are.

OP: WAY to early to think about being a radiologist. Focus on getting into, through college, and into med school without dying first.

Oh boy. It is way, wayyyy too early to think about which specialty. First get into a college and do well there. Worry about college right now not about things that are 8+ years into the future. If you do end up going to med school, your perspective will change. You may like something other than radiology better.

Even as a college student you shouldn't worry too much about specialties lol

By the way, the question you're asking is one that even residents who are in their 30s are asking...but as of now, it seems to be a pretty good field - at least, from what I can tell. 😀
