To rads residency matriculants,

What would be your guess on the average usmle/grade requirements and # of programs to apply to in order to be confident on acceptance to a rads residency(average program)?

Is there a reason why people can't post their general CV #'s so potential rad residents can gauge their standing?

Just apply and see what happens. Not every rad resident is AOA with top board scores. There are programs of all calibers. Apply to many locations including university and community programs and you should be ok if you are an MD US grad.

What about average match #'s? Where does a 241 w/above average grades (but not AOA) sit?

241, non-aoa= Match

* unless non us grad, limited to a very popular geographic area or there is something very undesirable about you (criminal record, poor evals/recs, blind, etc.)

Apply for path as backup if you are really insecure, and refer to the path forum for more details about this non-competitive but underrated field

To the original poster:

Very general question and difficult to answer. Scores 210-220 its possible to match, but much harder and usually at a lower tier program. Over 220 will probably get you in somewhere. Over 230 will get you better interviews and you should match.

As for number of programs, I'd say 30 is a good number. It has to be smart list. If you include only the best programs, you could remain unmatched despite a great application. Try to apply to a good mix of programs that includes some stretches, some that you think you'll have a good shot at, and some that you're pretty sure you'll get interviews. Talk to an advisor to get an idea of what these programs should be.

For the guy with 241, you should be in somewhere, just make sure to apply to a range of programs.
