When will workers on Earth start asking for better working conditions and better working technology before asking for a damn raise? It seems that too many RPhs and CPhTs are complaining about their stress and then asking to be compensated for their stress before asking for better computers or more help or changes in the store. You can't have it both ways.

I would have gladly taken a smaller paycheck for a work environment in which one could suffer for 30+ years. Now it looks like we'll get the smaller check but keep the gulag work conditions.

That's pretty much what I did. Took a 10% paycut to do remote verification. But the working conditions are vastly better and less stressful. No more customer contact. I have a home office. Get a 30 min unpaid lunch and 2x15 min paid breaks.

The 10% paycut wasn't even so bad because it evened out in the end. I don't spend much on gas now. Fill up the tank about once a month. No work clothes, drycleaning or ironing. No buying lunch or packed lunch because I can just go to my kitchen.

I save lots of time from not having to get ready for work, commute and open/close the store. And because we have a pretty flexible scheduling system, I use this saved time to pick up overtime of about $20k/yr, which further negated the paycut.

There are many sweet gigs out there with great QOWL and decent pay as well, so you can have them both. You just need to go out and get them. Don't just hang out on SDN because most people only come here to complain and make like the whole world is coming to an end (so buy gold!!! 😛).

I think initially people come here in search of solutions, support and professional comrade. How it all pans out depends on one's subjective interpretation.

I find the soap box jockeys to be a bit of bore myself. The sheer arrogance required to insinuate that anyone of us would, considering the odds we ALL overcame to be what we are, be content to just sit and wine rather than go out there and get it. is, well, contemptible to me.

One thing that I have learned is that QOL sucks in the USA. In Europe, they have a gazillion days off, one hour lunch break, and a lot of perks and benefits.

In the US, I think West coast has a better QOL than East coast. They are just more chill there...

I am interested too please, more info

East coast has always been cut-throat. We have all the Ivy league schools...all the financial centers...business centers...government centers. It's serious competition out here.
