Hey all,

I usually try not to start threads in this main area, but wanted to wish those of you celebrating a Happy Ramadan! 🙂

Anybody have any fun plans or goals for the next month?

Ramadan Kareem!

My major goals this Ramadan are the following: memorizing Juz Amma (the last one), fasting everyday, and doing all of my prayers. What are yours?

Ok, so shows what I know. I thought Mubarak was the former Egyptian president, and when people said " Ramadan Mubarak," they were supporting him.

Glad I googled that finally.

My thoughts exactly. The good news is Morsi was overthrown after just a year, so even if OP was referring to the Egyptian Mubarak, i'm sure he's pleased.

:smack: And I'm sure the term Merry Christmas is referring to some bloke with the last name Merry lol

Side note: I have usually heard Ramadan kareem and Eid mubarak...but I guess you could say Ramadan mubarak as well.

It's not some bloke. The president of the USA's last name isn't Merry, otherwise I could totally understand how someone would be confused if they didn't speak English.

Ramadan mubarak to you, too!

Definitely trying to pray consistently...fajr's always been hard for me. :S

my goal is to brush up on my arabic so I can read the Qur'an

I really cant fast since I get hypoglycemic after 3-4 hours 🙁

Ramadan Mubarak to everyone celebrating as well. 👍

My father's side are all Muslim and as dreadful of a month as it might sound (not eating or drinking anything from sunrise to sunset for the whole month), especially during these long summer days, it is actually quite a celebratory time. I used to fast and it was always bitter sweet once the month was over.

I'm sure there is. A Muslim capitalist who supports the very line of thinking that leads to the butchery of his own people. Surprising indeed.

You know you're being a douche when... (Hint: I quoted it!)

It's about that time here and the toxic fumes from the kitchen where my mom is "cooking" are going to kill me

You're Muslim? .....

Ramadan mubarak.

Ramadan mubarak to you too!

👍 First time I encountered a Muslim libertarian. Man, lots of surprises on SDN lol.

I believe that you really cant be in one party completely. My ideas usually blend mostly with democrats and libertarians.. and some republicanism.

He's a hater. and hes doing what he does best.

Ramadan mubarak to all my muslim brothers and sisters! And to all you nonmuslims....Ramadan Mubarak! Summer Ramadan is always the toughest but well get by, i got two more hours to go today!

Ramadan Mubarak!

My only real goal this Ramadan is to be a lot better about making (Pakistani) Ramadan specific food for iftar this time around. I feel the most homesick during Ramadan, so I think that'll help.

I'm also trying not to complain so much, haha. I really do love this month.

Capitalism isn't completely antithetical to Islam; in fact it can be argued that Islam encourages venture capitalism, which was the predominant economic system in the middle east nearly a millenium ago. Don't confuse the current western system of "crony capitalism" with true capitalism, because a truly capitalist America would have seen the downfall of the big banks in 2008, not the enactment of TARP.

Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims!

Ramadan Mubarak to all you guys! I think we can agree this will be toughest one yet. I know, growing up I associated Ramadan with shorter days of the year... But now its during the summer! Funny how lunar calendars work, eh?
