Just got asked for some advice, and thought I might repeat it on here. Feel free to rip and shred as you like, I just don't have anything better to do right at this moment.

-One of the biggest things I think people need to be aware of is that the match is biased in favor of applicants. When you look at the system, you absolutely do not need to play mind games or overthink your rank order. Put them in exactly the order that you most desire. The only time I can find an exception to this is if you choose to inform your top program that they are your top program, and perhaps one further down the list that would have ranked you higher if they heard this same thing ranks you lower for the lack of it and you end up dropping even lower in the match than that program. Otherwise there is no reason to rank a more competitive program lower because you figure your chance there is not as good. Aim high.

-ask questions during interviews

-don't fall asleep during the noon conference, although it often seems they're trying to make you (almost always after lunch)

-check your email often, and keep a calendar on you at all times

-don't get discouraged about a lack of interviews early, for radiology at least it seemed like many of them waited for the Dean's letter to send invites.

Thanks DrNick for taking the time to post that. I appreciate all the advice I can get.
