In no way am I trusting anything my friends tell me, but I just wanted to run it by you guys to see what your opinion is of this subject.

How much longer do you think Pharmacist will be in demand? Do you think they will ever get rid of the Pharmacist and just convert to machines?

Thanks for your input on this matter.

New regulation effective Jan 1, 2008 will eliminate the need for pharmacist to dispense. Machines will be filled by pharmacy clerks and it will be verified by licensed pharmacy technicians.

Many schools are considering closing doors.

Oh wells...it was a nice run while lasted.

Yup, pharmacists are going to become obsolete.

you know, the guy asked an honest question. you guys have more experience in the field, you could give him a real comment on it, based on what you have seen or what you know about the new technological improvements.

just my two cents.

Well...Scrubs & Jeff - yes, we could give him a real comment....but, we've commented on this topic over & over & over again.

If you want to become a pharmacist, you have to become savy in using your computer - try the search function....or just scroll thru the pages...

The bottom line from all of us who are pharmacists is - we are as needed now as we were 30 years ago when I started.

Has my job changed????? Yes - dramatically!

Has it been for the better??? Yes - absolutely!

Will we all end up filling rxs or pyxis fill lists 20 years from now??? Probably not, but it will be something else.

Are there aspects of the job we don't like - Yes - without question!

Would I do it again - Yes - in a heartbeat!

If you want to marginalize what we do or guess we don't have a function - we can't convince you otherwise. However....I'm as much in need as I've ever been.

Is that honest enough for you???

I do believe the OP is Pre-Dent. Not that it had anything to do with my response.

is OP in reference to me?
i hate to date you two (date meaning show how old you two are 🙂 , but
'scurred' was in a rap song that came out a few years ago. i forget which b/c i've tuned out of rap, but i meant to spell it that way.

No...my reference to "scurred" was to you - not the OP (original poster).

I apologize to you - yes I am old....I wouldn't know a rap song, old or new!

I think Zpak was referring to the OP (original poster) being perhaps a predent??? Don't know....

In any event.......I don't know rap 🙂D ), my husband still can't spell 🙂D ) and pharmacists will always be in demand.

Again...I apologize - the error of the generations😳 .....

hehe, thanks for clearing it up. I'm relatively new so i'm learning the jargon.
And i meant being old playfully b/c i noticed how you and zpack like to tease each other. to be honest, i don't really listen to rap and i'm becoming the oldie one day at a time. I had a couple friends that have told me that I'm an old soul. :meanie:
thanks for all the help.

exactly. It's not like we are going to be using machines for dispensing medicine. Man is better than machine. Whats going to happen if the machines stop working, If something jams in them. If it messes up. Of course we like to think of technology as the future but anything that has to deal with medicine will be done with hands unless its research. I Could'nt see how they would switch. Good less money wasted but on the other hand what if it breaks. people would be complaining and stores would loose customers and all will be left are those mom and pop businesses.

truthfully I wouldn't like to joke about loosing a future job I might have. There going to be in bigger demand in the next ten years because of all the people more interested in being a doctor not a pharmacist. All the shows on tv that deal with the medical field run the trend for the next generation.

but thats my oppinion so dont kill it.
