Emory - awesome! warm...advanced only though.
U of Chicago -awesome! (cold though)
OHSU -awesome! PD was a little different. Chairman was awesome!
Virginia Mason - different in a good way
MUSC - surprisingly decent! Pretty mid-size city!
UTSW - nice program, Dallas seems interesting. They were pretty concerned about the "malignant" thread.
Jefferson - nice but wanted second look, I didn't want to give it.
UTSA - San Antonio has the Alamo and Riverwalk and that was all I could find!
UIC - 2-year review cycle..... but cush (12-hour call)
Rush - senior resident said he has broken 80-rule a few times....after some drinks 🙂. Solid program though.

What do you guys think? Please don't get insulting 😍.

Thanks Ifesiam! This is a pretty tough crowd. So many views and one response. Private messages are welcome from residents at any of the above programs 🙂. Yes, I know at the end it's all about how I feel/think about the programs.

Dude, other than your 3 programs in Chicago you are SOOOO spread out. You gotta choose where you wanna be first...then go based on secondary issues like prestige, research, a particular clinical strength, etc.

That aside...

I agree w/ Lfesiam's.

Fakin that sounds like your way of doing things, right? I obviously don't mind what part of the country I end up in. I have no ball-n-chain. I prefer to be in an interesting city and at a great program. Thanks for your input though.

weather is important...and this time of year its freezing in most places. but you gotta think about other things. chi town has got soo much to offer, it would be a great place to live for 3-4 years. i agree with the above, think about what felt right. if you got now ball-n-chain, then no worries. just do what feels right.

oregon has a very different feel than illinois. same with georgia and penn. what makes you happy...where do you feel comfortable?

Ive heard that Rush is a very malignant place. But that being said, nobody ever specifies what they mean by that. Is that in terms of people? Work hours? Scut? Everyone seemed ok when I went there...

Can anyone elaborate?

Hi Nuriko....this thread is about ranking the above programs. If you got a great vibe from Rush....don't let others dissuade you. Go for it, you will be well-trained. Your question could be answered if you read what I was told by the Rush resident, but most programs are working harder, so whatever! We should all know by now that anesthesia residency is not a cake-walk. I love the field enough to work for it!

Good luck 🙂
