Hi- I am a DO student and am attending 17 interviews. I am just curious how far people have been dropping down their rank list for the past few years. I am expecting to drop to 5/6. It is a random guess but I have trouble believing that most people get their top 3 like I have been hearing. I know it is different for everyboy but any insight or past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

You will get a lot of anecdotal evidence on here. I would prefer to look at actual data.

Keep in mind this is for all specialties, and not just anesthesiology. Almost 90% match in their top 4 ranks.

I remember there being a poll last year on here regarding this. Obviously wasn't scientific and in the end there are a lot of factors that come into play.

depends on how good a candidate you are. i think if you come here for answers, you will get a biased opinion of lots of people who matched #1.

Except those data only break applicants down into US MD seniors and "independent applicants" (which includes DO, IMGs, and previous MD graduates). I'd expect the DO stats to fall somewhere between the US MD and Independent Applicant statistics, since DOs tend to be the strongest part of the IA pool based off match rates.
