Anyone else having trouble how to rank programs? I have my top 3 but they keep moving around. Perhaps dermmatch and longdong can give us some advice? (I'm talking like I can actually choose where I go...)

Also..which programs have been sending out love? I know in previous yrs hopkins called their top candidates..anyone else?

how many do people usually rank to match? i forget the nrmp match data statistics

I believe it was 7

or 8

or 10?

Just always rank every program you interview at even though it gives you the bejeebers thinking about being stuck there.

While I know a good number of people who get their top spots, there are lots of folks who will end up at the bottom of their rank lists, meaning they narrowly escaped not matching.

If you don't mind our asking, how many did you rank?

Think long and hard before NOT ranking a program. Only omit programs if you can honestly say you would rather not match than go there. Otherwise you'll be kicking yourself if you don't match at all... I ranked all of my programs even though I was told I was #1 at my #1.

If a program director tells you you're #1... trust him or her, but don't bet your career on it.

this is probably a stupid question, but how do programs rank candidates? is it just like the rank list that we make?

also, is it better to rank a program where you don't want to be or not match and reapply? i know this is a personal choice, but what does everyone think?

Reapplying does not mean you will match. People will think you are weird or arrogant in not going through the match the first time.

Please be realistic in your chances -- again, there are stellar applicants who DO NOT MATCH annually.

I ranked all programs I interviewed at. I didn't interview at all programs who offered me an interview because of geographic and time constraints.

any program makes you a dermie. even if the program sucks a bit the city might be one you'd never have seen otherwise. you'd have to be clinically insane to risk going through apps again.
