1. stanford
2. uw
3. ucsd
4. ucsf

brougham--I thought you were big on stanford. didn't you post a while ago expounding on the virtues of stanford path?

On a slightly different note, I was thinking about the question that everyone always asks--what are the top [insert number here] programs in the country? It should be possible to figure out the most popular programs in the country by pooling everyone's ROL's. Of course, the NRMP would never release this info, even if it were anonymous, so I guess it's a pipe dream. One corollary to this is that it would also be possible to figure out the most popular applicants, by poolling the program's ROL's.

Made all the more exciting due to the fact that I am couple's matching...

1. Johns Hopkins
2. Brigham
3. Stanford
4. UPenn
5. UVa
6. Baylor College of Medicine
7. Vanderbilt
8. Mass General
9. UCSF
10. Emory

Yeah I think Stanford is a great program. I meant everything I wrote in my earlier post. But, I wrote that before I had interviewed anywhere else....I hope I mentioned that in that post.

At one point I had Stanford #1. In fact, every program in my top 4 was #1 at one point. I think I changed that damn list like 17 billion times. To be 100% honest the main reason I ranked Stanford #4 was because I really don't think I have a very good shot of matching there.

I know everyone always says that you should rank programs based on where you want to go and not on where you think you have the best shot. But, I think there is something to be said for going where you get the best vibes....especially if those vibes are coming from good programs that you would be happy at. It's all about the love man.

Well, in the spirit of anonymity I'll join in as well:
1. Hopkins
2. Mayo
3. Emory
4. UNC
5. Duke
6. BIDMC

Good luck to everyone as this process begins to wind down-I hope everyone gets their top choices!

Cheers.

1. Emory
2. UNC
3. MUSC
4. MCV
5. UVA
6. Vanderbilt
7. U. of Colorado

Good luck all! I am not as anonymous as others so I am not going to put my choices down yet... Though interestingly, my top choice is not any one else's top three!

*Bump* let's get some more lists on here🙂

the combination of the polls and lists are sorta interesting.

I always thought the Brigham and MGH were 2 of the premier programs, but several people seemed to put them in the bottom half of their rank lists, and they're not too popular in the polls either. Any particular reason you know of?

Besides wanting to stay on the west coast...

MGH-too big, too high sample volume, way too much work, the facilities are kind of run down and the place has half the space it needs. Residents on surg path routinely have to stay until 10 at the earliest to get all their work done. And I'd have to keep wearing that g-damn short coat (doctors at MGH all wear the short "consultation" coats.) (kidding)

BWH-too academic. I want to do AP/CP training, but they essentially told me at BWH: "WHEN you drop CP, here's all the other great things you can do..." If you know you want to be a dept chair in the future, this is the palce for you, however. One other possible problem is that Ramzi Cotran died suddenly a couple of years ago, and he was what really made the place great, according to a number of people there. Not that the current chair isn't doing a good job, it's just that I got the sense that decisions were being made "because Ramzi would have wanted it that way."

Anyway, these are all rationalizations because in actuality my wife refused to move away from the West coast.🙂

Thanks for posting your rank lists. I'm an MS3 going into path and that was pretty interesting and helpful. In one of the polls, university of washington was voted pretty much as the best pathology program, yet in all the rank lists posted, its not even in the top 5. I suppose most people are basing their choices primarily on location followed by interest in the program?

Globulin,
There are 3 people in my class that are ranking UW #1 for path. I think the reason your not seeing a lot of folks ranking it #1 on this site is that we represent only a fraction of the total applicants going into path. A lot of people don't even know about this site and I suspect that some folks don't want to post there lists for various reasons.

Where are the esat coast lists 🙂
I think cornell is the best program in nyc, but they are not DO friendly. SO there are politics everywhere If we work hard and learn out stuff we will all become great pathologist no matter which program we go to 🙂 😎

I happened to just come across what people ranked last year for Match 2003 in path and thought it was pretty interesting.

1. Chicago
2. JHU
3. MGH
4. UVA
5. Emory
6. Vandy

Mayo
Minnesota
Cleveland Clinic
Dartmouth
Yale
Colorado

So here I am cruising through this forum and all the sudden I see my rank list from last year....I thought I was in some sort of weird time-warp for a second. Then I realized someone bumped this topic all the way from last year just to find out where we all wound up. Well, I ranked Cornell number one and that's where I am now.

BTW-
How come none of you guys from this year are posting your lists? No one knows who you "really" are and I really doubt (though I may be wrong) that any PD's or other higher-ups read these posts. So, come on post yer list...it'll help relieve some of the stress, trust me.

WoW!! Long time since I poked my head in here...

I had the same experience as Brougham, thought someone was posing as me!

Anyway, as most of you know I am at MGH. Yep, its a lot of work. Yep, I love the heck out of it.
