Can we rank from most prestigious to least for the surgical journals out there.

Why? Probably everyone will have a different opinion. But I'll bite...

I'll just throw out the commonly referenced ones, in no particular order:

*JACS (as stated above)
*Annals of Surgery
*Archives of Surgery

Then there are specific ones for each subspecialty.

By impact factor, Annals is the clear winner. I think it's around 6. Archives and JACS are in the 3-4 range as I recall. (For reference, JAMA is about 20, NEJM 30)

I think Annals is the oldest existing surgical journal as well.

You gotta rank them by impact factor (there should be a new list for 2008 soon).

Anyway, the number one surgical right now is Annals of Surgery.
