not sure if everyone saw LizzyM's recent post about the changes to AMCAS this cycle. we now have 700 characters to explain each extracurricular and now have to choose our most meaningful three out of the possible fifteen spots. we then have 1325 additional characters to expand on each of the three, explaining why they are designated as most meaningful.

im a little torn about what to put. if i do NOT designate one of my clinical experiences as most meaningful, will it look like i am not committed to medicine? if i DO, will that make me a "cookie cutter" applicant?

anyone have any thoughts? what are you doing? 😕

I think being honest about what were the most meaningful would suit you the best. I am pretty sure that by 'meaningful' the adcoms are looking for learning and character building experiences. During my application and interviews, all adcoms were interested in what I had learned from the EC's listed on my app. If you decide to not elaborate on clinical experiences in the EC section, you can always include it (them) in your personal statement. The same goes for the other EC's.

Good luck!

I'm genuinely curious as to why you would NOT want to choose the most meaningful experiences? I'm probably as far from an adcom member as possible, but I would think if that was added and you chose not to answer, I would question what it meant to you. I don't really know, though... I don't have an AMCAS app, yet.
