During my post-bac year, I took the MCAT for the first time and got my desired score, and I took 11 classes at a local state college, all of which were BCPM (mostly upper level electives such as Biochem 1 and 2). I finished with a 4.0 postbac gpa. I also received an undergraduate research award for one of my research projects. I spent my spare time volunteering with local homeless children and hospice patients and working as a clinical research assistant at my local medical school. I also found time to shadow doctors in radiation oncology, ophthalmology, and family medicine.

How did I do?

Umm what's your end goal here? To look for some random internet strangers to complement your 4.0? What was your GPA before the postbac---that's the thing that matters here. 33 credits or so of 4.0 work is all well and good but it's not making up for 100 credits of medicore work.

Not sure if this is a troll here but if you brought your gpa up to a solid range(anything above a 3.6 is solid, anything above 3.4 and you have a fighting chance especially with a good MCAT) you'll be fine. If not, you won't.

Brought me up to 3.4 cumulative from a 3.2, so by your logic, I have a fighting chance. Thanks, Grapes.

What's the MCAT? If a 28, you did terribly. If a 33+, you did wonderfully. If something in between, it'll depend.

Wow, thanks. It's the latter.

Lol yea what are you trying to accomplish with this thread? Make it more clear

I wanted this to be a thread where people share what they have done during their postbac years in order to give the premeds of sdn a better feel for what postbac is like.

There is no need for such a thread. There is a search button.

Also, people spend postbac doing a whole host of things. No need for a thread.

Yea, I see no problem with that, given you post all the relevant information, if you are inclined to post anything in the first place. I can see where certain pre-meds would appreciate this kind of thread. People need realistic encouragement is what I am trying to say. 🙂

So good job! Let us know when you get in to MS!
