Hi,
I was wondering whether there's any website or other way to figure out which schools accept the most out-of-state students from which states. I hope that's not a confusing question. I'm a California and New Jersey resident so I wanted to see which schools tend to accept CA or NJ residents more than others. Please let me know if there is such an AWESOME website like this out there! 😛 Thanks...

You will have a better chance of admissions at the states you are a resident of AND the surrounding states. This is especially true if they are public schools.

There is NO single site that gives that kind of detailed information. There are, however, hundreds of threads on SDN that discuss which schools take out of state students. This thread is just one of them. You might want to try out the search feature to look at all the others.

If you really want to spend some time doing research, though, you might be able to find some answers at some of the individual class sites. The LECOM-Bradenton 2010 class site (click on my sig to see), for instance, has a map that shows where lots of the new students are from. I'm actually surprised at the number of west-coast students heading to Florida.

Thanks! It definitely helps...

Be careful.

Although some schools might normally accept mostly instaters, it could actually help you if they're trying to increase diversity.

I'm going to Touro in August, and it didn't hurt me at all not to be from Cal even though many of my classmates will be.

Evaluate each school individually.

I had a book that had most med schools MD and DO and it had stats on statehood for most of them.

Just go to B&B or Borders and check out those books.

It will only cost you a cup of coffee.

Most osteopathic medical schools are private so you won't have any advantage in state or out of state. Even though a large majority of students from my class at COMP are from California, it is most likely because those are the students who decided to go to COMP and stay close to home. You should be okay at most of the osteopathic medical schools.
