LECOM-B: April 2006 OMAC - A great day that was well organized and informative. We had an intro to admissions, a curriculum discussion with Dr. Kreuger (this guy is pretty much in charge of PBL), an OMM demo by Dr. Quinn, a student Q&A followed by a tour, and finally light refreshments in the cafe. This was my first visit to an osteopathic medical school and I was highly impressed. If you are thinking about applying to LECOM-B or osteopathic medical school in general, I would highly recommend these open houses.
PCOM-GA: Last Friday in September - Well, to be brutally honest, this was a not so great day. I had scheduled a visit about three weeks in advance and when I showed up nobody knew I was coming. Nobody was there from admissions, so security rounded a student ambassador to give us a tour. Now, this may be an isolated incident, but the guy really couldn't clearly explain what his experience was like with the school. When asked about the curriculum, he was about as clear as mud. Also, the packet of info we were given contained a brochure that basically outlined how to fill out the AACOMAS app and contained nothing about the school itself. Having driven four hours for this campus visit, the whole thing lasted about 25 minutes. Having had LECOM-B, another new school, to comapre it to, PCOM-GA's visitation days need some serious work.
