Hi everyone. First off, thanks for taking the time to help me out. I'm in the process of ordering all my DAT-Prep material, and I want to make sure I get everything needed all at once.

I'm going to be using DentalWorks' 8-week study guide, and I created a thread last week as well titled "Alright guys, what's the best way to prep for the DAT?"

Although I did gain insight on what the consensus is for the most popular materials used during DAT-Preparation, I still am unsure of a select few books/programs that are mentioned here and there by some, but not by the majority.

It may be difficult for me to purchase anything outside of what DentalWorks' 8-week study guide uses since I would have to find a way to implement extra books/programs into the guide, but I still would appreciate any input regardless. I would make it work if I had to.

Therefore, I'd love if you could all rate the following in terms of helpfulness/necessity/your personal experience in using said item during your preparation for the DAT.

If you could rate on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the poorest, 10 being the highest) in terms of how helpful the material was, I'd greatly appreciate it.

One final note: If you'll notice, there is more than one reference material listed for a given subject. For example, ACS General Chemistry is listed, but so are Chad's General Chemistry videos. I'm sure one wouldn't need to order both ACS and Chad's, or at least I assume one wouldn't need to. Therefore, if you personally find both resources to be extremely helpful, please also mention which you would choose when comparing to the other. Thanks again.

1.) DAT Destroyer

2.) Math Destroyer

3.) Crack DAT PAT

4.) Crack DAT Math

5.) Cliff's AP Biology

6.) Kaplan Blue Book

7.) ACS General Chemistry

8.) ACS Organic Chemistry

9.) Topscore

10.) Chad's Videos for Gen. Chem and Org. Chem

No one wants to contribute? I had a feeling this thread was going to get flooded with responses. I hope it does! =)

I created a poll a little while and it was removed from the forum (my fault🙁) But here are the results. I was thinking about creating it again because it was really helpful.

#1- DAT Achiever

#2 - Crack DAT PAT

#3 - DAT Destroyer

#4 - Chad's Videos (Organic and General Chemistry)

#5 - Cliffnotes AP Biology

#6 - Math Destroyer

#7 - Top Score Pro

#8 - Kaplan Blue Book

#9 - Studentdoctor.net

#10 - Chad's Practice Material (Quiz)

unfortunately... most people haven't used ALL the above resources, so its going to be hard to predict which ones most useful/useless

But from personal experience, I can say you can't go wrong with DAT & MATH destroyers, CDP, Chads/KBB, and cliffs AP bio..... These have become the standards for DAT preparation, I don't think there is anything in the market that can overthrow their popularity.

There is however another biology resource, Exam Kracker MCAT biology (7th edition). I've read half this book long time ago and I recently got a free copy..... I am starting to like it alot, it presents information much clearer than cliffs AP..... I don't know if I wanna say that it can be substituted for cliffs since, I haven't seen cliffs in over a year and half. If I had both books I can certainly compare and see which lacks what.... I'll try to stop by barnes and nobles and review them.

It's interesting to me that acheiver scored so high. All I have heard from people is that it tests way above what is needed for the DAT and isn't practical for practice material.

I'm glad you mentioned this Yappy. On the "Poll Results" seen posted by Philippines03j's past survey, it's rated as number 1. Yet on the first link posted in response to my question in this thread, DAT Achiever wasn't highly acclaimed.

I'd like to hear some more input on Achiever. To buy or not to buy? I'm finally ordering everything in a few hours (was going to yesterday, but decided to wait and see what other input I could obtain from responses in this thread).

Thanks for the response DentalWorks, it's always a pleasure to hear your input. I'd love to hear what you think of Exam Kracker MCAT Biology in comparison to Cliff's AP Biology. I may even purchase both if you recommend doing so.

It's been so long since I've taken any upper-div Bio courses, I'll basically be starting from scratch. Having more than one resource for a given subject might not be a bad idea for me. Finding the time to actually use more than one resource is going to be a challenge, however.
