Hi..

I really appreciated everyone who contributed this forum..it is a great help..

I almost read a great portion of it, mostly it is a discussion for HOW TO GET LICENSED IN US.

What about if my aim now is to get higher education and go home and practice there, so how you can direct me.

What are the ways, requirements, to get postgraduate degree in any field ? Endo, Prosth, Perio, etc.

What should I do, where should I start?
Step1..
Step2..
Step3..
Step4..

Thanks ..

Hi Awke

You've brought up an interesting subject. You should post this question on the Dental forum. They know more about post graduate courses in the US.

But my advice will be to decide what is it that you want to study, find out which schools offer the course and directly contact the school to ask about requirements for foreign trained dentist who won't be practicing in the US.

I know some schools will accept students like you without the need to take the boards. I also know NYU has 1 year programs, that are not considered a specialty, but still useful. Those programs don't need the boards.

my 2 cents...

Hi,
If you want to study and go back to your country there are couple of options.....
1. Enter in a certificate or masters program { needs GRE, NDBE I & II , TOEFL etc ..}
2 . Preceptorship program { No value in US ..ie useful only if you want to learn and go back to your country } eg...UCLA has such a course.
Hope this helps....!

Hi ..

Thanks for the advices...Meggs and Irishcream...

I wasn?t comfortable to write on the Dental forum b/c I was afraid if someone says ?If you are hungry why you don?t eat a cake...?

Anyways, here we can share our experience since we are in the same boat...

My first question was a tip of ice berg. What I was trying to accomplish is to get a broad base ideas for the treatment of FORIENG TRAINED SYNDROME (FTS), after they didn?t succeed to get licensed in US, what other best options we have, b/c the Ware-House is not a good option. Like the great ideas I have seen on forum for away to get licensed.

After you read that, someone can face the shocking facts:

? Between 800-1000 Foreign Trained Dentist are on the waiting
list for California?if the vote goes +vely.

? After you clear Part I & II you got to wait 2 or 3 yrs for admission.

? The great burden of the LOAN.

? And others?I?ll let you to enjoy recalling them?

I assure you me and the other colleagues like me, we are going a head and use your advices from day one, but let us get from you a ROAD MAP..

Let me comeback to my question. What are the options for me if I want go to my home-country to get higher education.

I applied indeed some universities for postgraduate like Minnesota University (PROSTH), but they told we have better applicants...

How much LUCKY I?ll be, after I do Part I,II GRE and TOEFEL to get admission.
Which universities are better to be applied.. Acceptance rate, cost, etc..

I am sorry if I ?.

Thanks again for every one.

Hi Awke

"Between 800-1000 Foreign Trained Dentist are on the waiting
list for California?if the vote goes +vely."

How do you know this? Has this information been published? I'll like to know more about it. 🙂

"After you clear Part I & II you got to wait 2 or 3 yrs for admission."

Have you tried applying for not so popular schools? You could ask about that in the Dental forum. If someone says something offensive, just ignore them, the advice you'll get is worth the try.

"The great burden of the LOAN."

Have you applied? Got rejected? I beleive that in order to get a loan you'll need a US citizen or legal resident as a co-signer.

"I applied indeed some universities for postgraduate like Minnesota University (PROSTH), but they told we have better applicants..."

What do they mean by "better applicants"? I mean how do they rate the "quality" applicant? Education level, post-graduate studies, country of study, nacionality, etc? Did they explained that to you?
How good of a candidate do you consider yourself to be? I mean about your place of study, gpa, boards scores, toefl scores, etc.

Also remember prothodontics is rather popular, so there will be a lot of great candidates. If you don't mind, you might want to apply to something else.

bye

Hi Meggs

Most what I wrote was an info. I got from this forum..

About the No. of 800-1000 ..I meant what was posted on the last thread " August Bench Test " ..Do you think I am lucky since it?s re-posted again.J 🙂

About waiting 2 or 3 yrs for the admission .. You can read easily from the previous threads someone saying, I applied for this year, but I could not succeed, I?ll apply next year?you haven?t seen that?

I haven?t tried myself yet?.b/c when I read all the past threads, I got discouraged, and that is why I am looking for something else.

The LOAN?don?t ask that PLZ.. I remember one of the threads said?.get ready to pay it back for the next 25 years?.. Isn?t that amazing?

About the postgraduates?.that is what I need to get advised. Although I am a good candidate for postgraduate, may be they some better candidates?.that is what I thought.

However, after all these.... I will try as you said not to apply Prosth. Since it is popular. Would you plz put another 2 cents, I spent the old ones....🙂

Which subjects are easier to get into..
Which universities do accept more candidates?

I appreciate your previous post about NYU?and the other friend about UCLA..really it was a great help for me.

Is there any other universities offer like those programs?
How competitive they are?

Thanks..
