Fo those of you that have taken the exam, this could be of great help to all of us that will be soon in the electric chair!

Which studying aid did you find most similar to the real RC section, obviously based on your DAT experience. THank you all for taking your time for a response.

1. CDR

2. QVault

3. Achiever

4. Topscore

5. Chinese Book (without you knowing how to read chinese)

I got a 22 RC but I didn't study for it much.

Based on my own experience and what seems like a trend: search and destroy tactics are pretty risky. Sometimes it works, but when it doesn't it really doesn't.

Safest way is to look at the first 1-2 questions, start reading passage and answer questions as you see them. Take a note here and there but mostly try to understand the flow of the passage.

The few practice tests I did (kaplan, barrons) and the real DAT: All of them have a logical flow of thought processes, so you don't need to take a bunch of notes because you will remember where in the passage certain things were being talked about.

One good tip I picked up somewhere: Read the passage as if you are a snooty professor trying to find something wrong. That way you are reading critically and looking for the logic.

I also didn't study much for RC, I took 2 or 3 practice tests using CTD and did terribly at first, then by the 3rd test I got a 20. During the actual test I read the passage as if it was a magazine article. I could usually answer the first 4-5 questions right away without looking back at the passage.

I had to look back at the passage for the remaining questions, but I could "see" where they were in the passage, so that was easy. I found my passages to be interesting, so if you can make the passage seem interesting to you in some way that will help.

I ended up getting a 28 on RC, which was my highest section.

I made a 22 on RC and didnt really practice like kaplan told me too (course). My reading passages were lengthy, but incredibly interesting to me being that it was all science centered material. Blaze through the passages and then answer the questions by going to back to the passage using your memory to find where the answer might be...it shouldnt be terrible. I've always had a history of doing poor on reading tests in general all my life and i got that score and was so impressed with myself. wish everything else was that score. good luck!
