I just took a practice bootcamp RC just to see how I would do since I haven't been focusing on this section of the exam. I got a 20 but I ran out of time, didn't even read the last article and only answered the questions that were easily found.. and I guessed all tone questions.

I was wondering if on the Real DAT you guys found that you were able to comfortably go through all articles? Also any tips for this section? I find that I have to read the articles before answering the questions to get an understanding..

Hi shiba_inu

There are many different versions of reading on the DAT, so I advise students to be prepared to use different methods to tackle the passage. You may be presented a very easy S&D passage or you may get a very challenging passage that requires you to understand what the author is implying. Taking a few timed tests generally is not enough to prepare students for this section. I recommend reading daily to improve speed and comprehension.

I am sure others will answer with their experience.

Wishing you the best..

Would daily timed tests be better than daily reading though?

I dont think you wanna do them daily. Maybe every couple days, and practice reading throughout.

It's true what Nancy said...soooooo many versions. Dont assume you will get the same style as others..because you most likely wont! Be prepared for anything they throw at you..try different styles, see what works for you!

Yea true. I'm having trouble reading articles with a rushed feeling I guess. It's a lot easier to feel the pressure when doing a timed test as opposed to reading scientific american.

Be prepared for anything! I am saying this, because I took the exam today and I think RC was one of the sections that was a bit more on the difficult side for me, simply because S&D would not work half the time and I had many tone questions as well. It's all about the Timing, if this exam was 80 minutes, I'm sure every would dominate it!

Yea true. I'm getting wrecked on reading right now on practice scores, but my test isn't for a while so hopefully I can improve.
