What section, RC or PAT, is it better to have a higher score on? I know they are completely different sections of the test but some schools weigh certain parts of the test more heavily than others.

BOTH....PERIOD

i agree, both, hahaha.

but in the same sense RC and PAT i think are the two opposties of the test, that is the approach for each is completely different. PAT either you get it or you dont, or you sit there for a bloody long time and draw mental pictures. RC is all out in front of you, no thinking involved really as most of the answers are typed out on tha page for you. Litteraly, the question is a statment somewhere in the text but a couple words changed to make it a question. then the answer is usually word for word somewhere in that paragraph. Speed is the limiting factor in RC, whereas mental manipulation is the key to PAT. Either way you shouldnt try to sacrifice one for the other but rather prepare for both.

well
RC is more important score wise
IMO PAT depends on schools most importantly
but after that I think anything 20+ on PAT and D-schools will get the point (as in you can brain map).

RC is by far the most important. There was a study done that correlated RC score and success in dental school. You can look it up on google scholar.

I also got back from a preview day of sorts at a dental school, and they informed all of the students that the PAT was a joke and that you shouldn't spend much time on it.

Well i guess it all depends on which school since different schools look at different things cos i know several schools that look more at the PAT section. So if you apply to schools that look more at RC then focus on that more. conversely if you apply to schools more PAT concerning, focus more on that. In the end it comes down to what the colleges you are applying for are looking for and different colleges look at different things.

I would agree too. most schools put more weight on rc section than pat. but the best option is to do well on both sections!
