Hi guys,

I just got placed on my 4th waitlist out of 4 interviews attended, so my cycle is now completely out of my own control. I'm looking for some advice on how to improve my app and reapply for this cycle, or if I should wait a year before applying again.

Year/Undergrad/Residence: Graduating in May from an OH school as an in-state resident
GPA: 3.96 cGPA/3.93 sGPA
MCAT: 511 (127/127/128/129)
Waitlists: Toledo, Penn State, NEOMED, Ohio State
Rejections: Wayne, Wright State, Central Michigan, Oakland, Case, Pitt, George Washington, Rosalind

I sent primaries to a few other schools, but never submitted secondaries after getting 2 early interview invites.

Volunteering (clinical): 200 hours at a hospice

Volunteering (nonclinical): 250 hours serving lunches to homeless community, 100 hours through an after school sports program

Shadowing: 40 hours with a cardiologist

Research: 300 hours through NIDA internship, 200 hours in on campus lab

Extracurriculars: Heavy campus involvement/leadership through Greek life, orientation team, tour guiding, and honor societies

I've recognize that clinical hours are a weakness on my application, so I've begun working as a medical scribe and will be doing that full-time upon graduation. I may even start in April due to my university going online as a result of the corona virus outbreak.

What else can I do to make improvements to my app? I've consider retaking the MCAT this summer, but wasn't sure if this was the best course of action.

Is it worth reapplying immediately, or should I sit out the next cycle before retrying?

With 4 waitlist I would be surprised if you did not receive an acceptance by June. You do not need to retake the MCAT. You are fine to reapply in June with a broader school list. Update us in early June.

Thank you for the response. What schools would you recommend me adding and should I apply DO this time around to be safe?
