I got an interesting (cryptic) email "We will include your prior application with the current one when it is received" in response to some correspondence I had with an admissions associate.

I was wondering if it is common for schools to evaluate re-applicants by comparing their past application(s) with their current one? I did not even think they kept the applications after a year?

Anyone been asked questions from their old application?

Thanks!

Yes they do keep applications for a significant period of time. I believe in another thread someone stated the applications are kept for years. They want to see what has changed since the last time that would make them accept you now. Obviously they did not accept you the first time and they want to make sure you've improved your application in some way.

Hmm, I guess I was a bit curious cuz I did not finish my application last year (I realized late October that I needed a break & just withdrew from the process 🙂 ) - no secondaries, but they did get my primary and rec letters. This year I decided to have the health professions committee resend 3 of my letters from last year (and I got a newer one from my current job). I feel kind of silly that they will be re-reading my rec letters again.

Oh well, this whole application process is learn as you go. ;-P

well that's different actually. I would call up the admissions office and ask because some schools do not consider you as a reapplicant if you did not send a secondary (+ money of course).

Do they use your previous UCAS number, is that why it asks you to put it on the UCAS form if you have gone through UCAS previously or is that just for the use of UCAS itself?

Would they know what course I had applied to before as I applied for a different course last year at the same uni??
