I applied in the 2017-2018 application cycle before withdrawing after getting a job and deciding I was too burned out to go right into med school. In that time, I improved my MCATS by a substantial amount, worked in a research lab, and generally got my life together (new hobbies like running and weight lifting, learned an instrument, etc).
Though most of the schools I'm applying to now are not re-applications, there are a few, mostly home-state schools that I am resubmitting an application to. Of these, none have asked me explicitly how I've improved since my last application. However, many have a question along the lines of "Tell us something about you that is not in your application." I felt it would be best to use this section to talk about my love of my major (I am a non-STEM major), why I studied it, why it matters to me, what I get out of it, and why I nonetheless want to be a doctor. I think this would be a really engaging essay that would show a lot of personality and enthusiasm, but I wonder if instead I should talk about how I've grown in the year since my last application. Which essay topic should I go with?
