Is anyone applying for the second time around?

I had no interviews the first time, and have gotten nothing yet this time, except a rejection from UK 🙁

Is this "commitment to the field" some schools talk about just a load of crap?

Are you in a masters program working on that GPA?

do a post-bacc and step your game up.

no dear dont loose hope....i m applying for the second time and i have gotten 2 interviews...did u took DAT again or did ur GPA increase?

that's what i'm going to look into next if i don't get in again ... i retook some classes and have been working full time as a dental assistant for over a year now ... my only next question is when can i consider myself down and out of this application cycle?

why did you withdraw an interview from UCLA? (according to your predents account)

i just decided not to continue the application with the secondary, i didn't get an interview, that's just what the predents default said when i selected withdrew. (maybe i should change that)

I wouldn't give up if this is your second time applying. i think the average age of D1's is around 24, so I definitely wouldn't give up trying. If you are worried about your stats, try doing a masters if you feel necessary. I don't think you need to retake your DAT, because those scores seem pretty solid.

This is my fourth time applying.....just started my masters last month. I'm either really stupid or really passionate about dentistry....haha

Don't wait to see if you get in this cycle, apply to MS programs now. It would be ideal if you could start one by the winter semester, so if you do not get in this cycle you can submit a semesters worth of grad work on your next application. I regret not doing this during my first application cycle, I am now on my third.

And while the "commitment to the field" is important hard cold statistics say people with good grades are the most likely to succeed in dental school. Your DAT scores show your capable and your athletic accomplishments demonstrate an ability to commit to hard-work, it is just a matter of putting them together to demonstrate to the ADCOMS that you can produce sustained academic excellence. As an aside I wouldn't bother retaking any courses unless it is absolutely necessary, it is a better idea to take additional upper-division BCP classes.
