Hi reapps,

I just wanted to let you know that tenacity pays off. This is my 4th application cycle and I finally got in!

Does anyone else have a success story?

Best of luck to all of you who are still trying. Don't give up, there is always hope!

I saw a post of yours on another thread and didn't have a chance to extend my congrats to you. SO CONGRATS!! I'm sure you have to feel a huge amount of relief/excitement etc. Time to celebrate! :hardy:

Yeah, third time was the charm for me. I had a 3.6 GPA and 34 MCAT but managed to get rejected about 25 times over the past 3 years and wait listed to death, but my last interview on my third year accepted me. So as the dean of my first medical school interview said, "All of you that want to be doctors will be, maybe not here, but if you're set on it you can make it happen."

Thanks!!! As a third time applicant (so far, not gonna stop til I get accepted!), I needed that! 🙂

Nice work, Clockwork Beast! What were you, a 7/4? With counters? Yes, I played far too much M:TG in high school.

I got into MTG for a bit. I would love to get into Eye of Judgment. That game looks awesome.

Awesome! Congratulations! 🙂

I'm so happy for you! Yeah!!! 😀

Congratulations! Persistence pays off.

Yep, 7/4 with all 7 counters on me. MTG had awesome artwork and some interesting quotations on the cards. I used to be all about that game.

Congratulations to all who kept at it and got in, and who are still keeping at it. Especially 4 times/11 years. Whew. That's stamina and sheer stubbornness. My hats off to you. I applied twice, and got in in June of my second round. So while I had my 3rd AMCAS app ready to go, I never submitted it.

But, a friend of mine applied three years in a row, and she just got her first interview this year, followed by an acceptance. Because she was so early in their cycle, and so quick to respond, she was the first and only person holding a seat in her class of 2012 (for a few days, anyway)--pretty cool huh?

It just occurred to me - your avatar looks like one of those female symbols. You know the ones I mean.

No, it's actually much nerdier than that (see upper left-hand corner)

4th time here as well. Almost gave up on it, but that little bit of arrogance in me said "we not quittin yet, boss." It's a weird feeling cause I've spent so long fighting for a chance. Cheers for everyone's success!:hardy:

Congrats! I'm happy for you as I am a reapplicant myself this year. Onward and upward!

don't give up!! this is my second time applying and i got in! very excited. it was my first interview and acceptance this year. i applied two years ago with one screened secondary, no interviews and all rejections. this year, i have four interviews so far (2 UCs) and one acceptance (OOS). and let me tell you guys, my MCAT score was below a 28! =) so its very possible with strong conviction and persistence! and if you're re-applying, YOU KNOW you deserve to go to medical school and have what it takes.

take care and best wishes everyone.

hopefully I could be fortunate enough to post with good news soon 🙂

Third time was the charm for me too! As a re-applicant sometimes it is so hard to take that knock to your ego the first time and to keep going for more, but when you know what you want, and you're willing to keep putting your ego out there on the line to get knocked over and over and over again till you make it, it says something about the type of person you are. Determination and (yes you too) tenacity pays off, for some sooner than others but for the those still plugging away have hope and don't give up! As physicians in the making we are trying to do something great and if you truly believe you are meant to be out there making the difference even for just 1 patient, have faith and know that when it is meant to be it will be and don't stop till you get there! Good luck to everyone who will be taking the next step this year as a fellow member of the class of 2012, we still got a long way to go, but at least we're in and for all of you that are still hoping for the future or getting ready to go back out for another round of hard knocks, keep your chin up & know who you are and who you are meant to be!
