AA: 18
PAT: 13 :scared:
GPA Science : 4.0
GPA Overall: 3.5

I am very concerned about my low PAT score, the angle ranking on the actual DAT was much more difficult than in the Kaplan practice test. Am I not going to be considered for interviews because of a low PAT??

Please help!!!

Thanks in advance

Yeah sorry but you probably need to re-take, but the first thing you should do is call the schools you're applying to and try to see if they think it's ok.
Also, this should be in the DAT section...

I do also think that you should re-take.

First, lots of schools have cut-off minimum and they are like 17 or below (depending on schools but 13 will definitely be below cut-off), which means that some schools will not even look at you just because of that score.

AA of 18 is not too bad, although it is still below average of matriculated students (accepted and starting dental school), but some schools might have problems with your DAT score not being in accord with your GPA.

It would help us if you can give us more detail on your DAT scores (different sections) and also where you went to school for undergrad. Especially if you went to not well-known schools and have 4.0 sGPA and have 18 AA, then some schools might think that reason why your GPA is high is because the school was easy.

Even if you do get invited for interview, when they are making the final decision, your DAT can be an issue during their discussion. If you're an applicant for this year then DAT re-take would be too late, but if you're applying for next year, I would say re-take in order to make sure that you have good chance of getting in.

also, it sounds like you were just using Kaplan, do some searches on DAT forum and find right materials to study.
If you are capable of making 4.0 in all your science courses, I am pretty sure you can do much better on DAT.

you definitely have to take it again.

Good luck to you

Are you serious?? wow

OP: your AA isnt great but its not horrible, but the 13 PAT raises some major red flags...PAT is one of those sections where it doesnt help too much if its high but it will def hurt if its too low, and 13 is def low.

Retake, and purchase crack DAT PAT

Also this should be posted in DAT discussions....

Good luck👍

HAHA, I agree with Dentaldud. My friend got into LSU just last year with a AA 18. If schools around the nation have a DAT average below 19, which many schools do, that means students were accepted with scores below 19.

Ridiculous post littlefrenchman. Do some research

this is where doctoothache posts an ADA chart of averages for schools and makes a cutting remark...SDN's version of Punk'd

it's almost too easy though..

AA of 18 is misleading. It depends on how you got the 18. If your average is a 18, it means that some of your scores were below 18 and some were higher. If you get anything lower than a 16, your chance is quite low. It's better to get a 19 and 17 rather than a 15 and 21 even though they both average to a 18. If you can break your AA score down for us, it would be more helpful.

Regardless, 18 is low enough to at least consider a re-take, and with a 13 PAT accompanying it, I believe a re-take is necessary. And if you don't, they will ask why you didn't. Trust in your intelligence and give it another go. Study harder and you will be fine.

I would retake. Get Crack PAT
