Yes I studied the first time. I was not upset about my score, but knew that I could do better. Went from 28->33. I'm happy.

Yes I have considered other professions. I think it's important to not say, "I want to be a doctor," without considering what is unique to being a physician vs other health professions. Choosing another profession is not "settling" in my opinion. In the end, I believe that all professions play a very important role in healthcare.

So, if your reason for being a doctor is, "I want to help people become/stay healthy," there are cheaper, less stressful, less demanding options for you that will allow you to do that while still paying very well and offering good job security.

medpr?

Who is this medpr guy? he's like a mythical creature on here

lol that thread just made me even more curious but it told me nothing! Can someone PM me or something haha?

He was a dude (or girl, tended to be secretive) that posted in nearly every thread related to pre-med and always had some sort of witty, yet solid, advice for pre-meds. He also had the habit of de-railing threads by being comical. He also had low stats, but some how made it to MD.
MedPR will be missed, though I remember how he wanted to start a new account for for when he started medical school anyways.

I've thought about dental school if the whole MCAT thing goes south.
