Funny how SDN raises awareness about SOPA/PIPA censorship yet the moderators are quick to censor a political thread that would 'probably end badly'. Not that the republican thread was spectacular to begin with. Free discussion is free discussion. The common background on this forum is 'Pre-dental'. There's definitely room for intelligent conversation (or unintelligent conversation) aside from dental related issues. -1 for SDN moderators.

There is a politics forum on SDN already. I don't think it's censorship, I think it's just getting rid of threads that are not appropriate to anything dentistry-related.

Isnt there a lounge or free topic area where one can bicker over politics. I mean really whats the point. I dont come here to read about this stuff and I can care less about it.

There was nothing wrong with that thread, it was entertaining side conversation.

Totally agree... it is complete BS...

There was nothing inflammatory, offensive, or trollish in any of the posts on that thread.

There was no fire to even put out....

We are educated adults and politics is very much more apart of dentistry than many of the other off topic threads on here. The thing that pisses me off the most, is that controversial threads are always on the premed, prepharm, and other forums, yet they are not shut down.

And FYI.... i started the SOPA and PIPA thread. LOL!!

And I could see how a lot of people would think that. It should still be free discussion though. There should really be a politics sticky thread under Pre-dents.
