Reaching Out To M1s For Tips…?

Just out of curiosity, is it considered rude/inappropriate/not professional to reach out to incoming M1s at a school you have an interview at to see if they have any advice or tips? I am not talking about stalking and messaging some random people, but rather very distant acquaintances (whom I have seen get into the school via their social media).

I just want to make sure that:
1. It is not looked down upon or weird to do that
2. I am not breaking any sort of rules that I may not be aware of in terms of seeking guidance from students (of course, I would never ask anyone to reveal interview questions or give me any form of unfair advantage!)

You're overthinking. Do yourself a favor and stop that. There's nothing wrong with reaching out to people you know to get some help. It's called networking, and it will be useful in landing a good residency spot

It's not looked down upon, but these M1s have barely started and need to focus on passing their classes! At least give them a chance to get their footing!
